Training & Support

Sage provides ongoing training to all our Volunteers. The training aims equip Sage volunteers with the skills to act confidently in their role. 

Training topics include

  • Sage Service and approach to support and advocacy
  • Overview of opportunities and challenges of ageing
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Functional approach to capacity
  • Sage policies and procedures
  • The laws and human rights which underpin support and advocacy in Ireland and be able to assert and challenge, on behalf of Sage/its clients, within these legal confines
  • The different contributions that are made by different health and social care professionals and, in general terms, how the system is supposed to work for older people/people who may be vulnerable
