Training & Support

Sage provides ongoing training to all our Volunteers. The training aims equip Sage volunteers with the skills to act confidently in their role. For 2017 Sage are focusing on the Support Person volunteer role. 

Training topics include

  • Sage Service and approach to support and advocacy
  • Overview of opportunities and challenges of ageing
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sage policies and procedures
  • The laws and human rights which underpin support and advocacy in Ireland and be able to assert and challenge, on behalf of Sage/its clients, within these legal confines
  • The different contributions that are made by different health and social care professionals and, in general terms, how the system is supposed to work for older people/people who may be vulnerable

Volunteer Training

Training this year will be held in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Sligo and Galway. Round one of training was completed in Dublin in June and Cork in July. Our next scheduled training dates and areas are visible below. Contact Helen if you would like to become a volunteer.
