Advocate highlights issues facing older people in rural Ireland

Sage Advocacy Regional Advocate for the North West, Ann Griffin, has told Agriland.ie that older people in rural Ireland are seeking support with issues in relation to access to healthcare and the provision of home care; as well as loneliness and social exclusion exacerbated by lack of transport and age discrimination.

In this podcast for the agricultural sector publication, which also focuses on the calculations and considerations for farmers making an application under the Fair Deal scheme for nursing home care, Ann Griffin tells Francess McDonnell how an advocate can help with explaining and analysing the options – and in ensuring that the person’s voice is heard and their rights upheld.
