The BAGSO – Federal Association of Senior Citizens’ Organisations represents the interests of older generations in Germany. It advocates for active, self-determined and as healthy aging as possible with social security. In a society that is becoming increasingly colourful and diverse, BAGSO promotes a differentiated image of old age.
Safeguarding the Human Rights of Older People
Learning, teaching and training event, Königswinter/Germany, September 2023
How to better protect the human rights of older persons? This was one of the central questions of a three-day learning, teaching and training event, that took place in Königswinter, Germany in September 2023. The event was organized by BAGSO together with partners from Austria, Bulgaria and Ireland as part of the Erasmus+ project “Safeguarding the Human Rights of Older People through an Intergenerational Solidarity and Active Citizenship Approach”.
Focus of the project is to learn about initiatives, measures, structures and projects for the protection of human rights in older ages. The aim is also to identify areas where the human rights of older people are not adequately protected. In the three-day event participants received an insight into different areas of work related to the human rights of older persons. Good practice examples were presented and discussed with the aim of using them as inspiration across national borders.
